Here I am!!!

How are you? I have been a little lazy blogger this week. It is like I couldn't find something to write about. It is really hard to feel inspired after a week of rain :( and today is raining again! Today I feel a little better as I woke up to some new orders in my shop. It seems that it was what I needed to feel better.

I have been working in some wholesale orders and some new designs for my shop. As soon as I finish them I will share some pictures and tell you were you can find them.

A friend of mine ask me to do a headband for her daughter, Rafaela, and it come out beautiful. Here is a picture of it... what do you think?








I start a new book yesterday. It is called "the book thief", I am reading a Spanish version but that is the tittle in English. My friend, A, red it and says is a very sad but good book. I"ll see.



I am so happy because I found out that a book I red Is been made into a movie. I loved this book and finished it crying. It is called "My sister's keeper" from Judi Picoult. I can't wait to see it.

And there is another movie that I am waiting to see as soon as it is in the theaters: "Fame"
This was my favorite series from my childhood. I remember I come back running from my dance class to see it and never miss one.

Spring break list

I am very sorry that I miss the date of my giveaway but I had been really busy with my girls on spring break. Here you can see what we have been up to during this week.

Friday: Dinner at home with friends
Saturday: Resting
Sunday: Easter at home with friends
Monday: working for my shop and resting from the weekend
Tuesday: working and I took S & F to see Hanna Montana the movie
Wednesday: working & hair saloon day. S & F got a new hair cut
Thursday: working, shipping orders. Picnic at the park with friends. Marriage class. Girls sleepover.
Friday: working. F was all day with her friend and then S brig her friend and played outside
Saturday: Long talk with hubby. Picnic at the park. Shopping clothes for the girls. Watch "Bed time stories". Girls sleepover at home.
Sunday: Screaming, jumping, running, singing, dancing, playing truth or dare & repeat all again. Preparing things for going back to school.





I finished my Spring break more tired than how I started, but my girls have lots of fun. That's more important!

For Easter weekend we drove to my in-laws (about 7 hrs) and spent the wknd with them (: My kids don't get to be w/ them @ their home often so it is really fun to have that time. We had a nice easter dinner, painted eggs, the girls got fun goodies in their baskets and an egg-hunt when we got home. (:

New Headband

Last week I score some wholesale orders. I have been working in them, here you can see some of the clips I have to finish. It is a lot of work but it is worth it.



And here is one of my new addition for my shop. This headband is called Elena. It is made out of wool blend felt and is totally handmade. Deep violet and turquoise make it a fashionable accessory.

Spring Break give Away!!!

I hope everyone had a great Easter. Mine was very nice, I had a weekend full of friends, great conversations and good food.

Now coming back to reality. I know I promised an Easter give away but as we are enjoying the Spring break I am going to do a Spring break give away =D

Brazilian Style Flan





This recipe was given to me by my friend Alessandra and is a Brazilian style flan.

Ingredients
for the flan
1 can (12 fl. oz.) Evaporated Milk
1 can (14 oz.) Sweetened Condensed Milk
I used the low fat versions of both
3 large eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 garnish of fresh fruit, (optional)
For the caramel
250gr. sugar
2 tablespoons water

Directions:
PREHEAT oven to 325° F.

I make my caramel in the microwave, it is so much easier this way. Mix the sugar with the spoons of water in a safe microwave bowl. Put it in high for 5' and continue doing it until you reach that brownish color. Quickly pour onto bottom of deep-dish 9-inch pie plate; swirl around bottom and sides to coat. Be very careful with this step. Let it dry.

Combine evaporated milk and sweetened condensed milk, eggs and vanilla extract in medium bowl. Pour into prepared pie plate. Place pie plate in large roasting pan; fill roasting pan with warm water to about 1-inch depth.

Bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until knife inserted near center comes out clean. Remove flan from water. Cool on wire rack. Refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight.

Run small spatula around edge of pie plate. Invert serving plate over pie plate. Turn over; shake gently to release. Caramelized sugar forms sauce. Garnish with fruit as desired.


























I like to serve my flan with homemade whipped cream. Mmmm.... ;)

1 pint heavy whipping cream
4 tablespoons sugar
vanilla extract

You have to put the metal bowl of the mixer in the freezer for a while before start making the whipping cream.
After this step, put all ingredients into the bowl and begin to beat in the faster cycle of the mixer.
The cream is ready when it is seen that the mixer leaves like tracks.

























Serve together with the flan or with fruit.

I hope you like and try to do this flan, it is really delicious.

We will never forget

Today is commemorated in Argentina on Veterans and the Fallen in the Malvinas War Day. This is a very sad time for our country and is a date which must not be forgotten ever.
In these war young kids 18 years old were sent to fight. They had neither weapons nor clothes, nor the knowledge necessary to deal with England. It was a total madness!
My memories of this war are that I was in third grade and the teachers had us write letters to soldiers and usually buy chocolates to send along with the cards. The teachers gathered around and gave them to the government to send them to the soldiers.
When this war ended with the outcome already known, over time the Argentine people knew that all letters and all the donations were left in warehouses and never reached the hands of soldiers.
This is just one of the things we learned there are many more things that went and are still going on.
These is my humble tribute to and remember the veterans of the Malvinas, which hurt us so much, but still have not give the veterans such well-deserved tribute.

Argentina is mourning

I am not a very political person but yesterday in my country, Argentina, died Raul Alfonsin. He was the first president after the military governments that we had at the time.

I had 11 years and of course I remember everything that happened, the publicity and the celebration when he assumed the presidency but most of all I remember my father’s happiness.

A new democracy and the most important promise: human rights, after decades of violence and terror.

One of the milestones of his presidency was the Trial of the Juntas, prosecuting some of the top members of the previous military regime for crimes committed during the Dirty War (refers to the state-sponsored violence against Argentine. By the late sixties and early seventies, regular citizens and police officers that were against the government were being kidnapped, tortured and killed by leftist terrorist actions almost weekly. Pregnant women were kept in captivity. They were tortured while waiting for their babies to be born. After the birth, the babies were kidnapped and the mothers were killed. This trial finished with the most terrible presidents Argentina had in prison.

May be I do not have to speak about politics in here but this is a tribute to my father who was a radical from heart.



This was one of the propaganda from the campaign.
